Academic Technology and Outreach at Montana State University, in partnership with the Montana Learning Center, will offer two free online courses for teachers interested in learning how to use a remote, robotic telescope for astronomical research in the classroom.
The courses, “Classroom Observatory: Astrophotography” and “Classroom Observatory: Research,” will train Montana middle and high school educators on the use of the Learning Center’s 16-inch Ritchey-Chretien telescope, which is located on a mountaintop in New Mexico. The goals of the courses are to offer teachers and students across Montana access to a research-grade telescope and the opportunity to conduct astronomical research as well as contribute to publishable research.
